TIMEOUT IS A CHOICEWhen do we learn that “we” are responsible and accountable for the choices we make? Well, it can start very early in life. Most of us do not think of “Timeout” as a choice; however, having a child to understand, that there is an expectation, a privilege to the expectation, and a consequence to not meeting the expectation, allows for him/her to be accountable for the choices they make. The conversation of “You do not have to be in timeout, you chose to be in timeout because of the decision/ action that you made.” How accomplished does a child feel when they know that they were “Better Than Timeout” by going through a day without being put into timeout?
